Over the next five weeks we will be looking at what is called the Upper Room Discourse found in John 13-17. These chapters detail what happened between Christ and his disciples as they gathered together to celebrate the Passover meal just before he was betrayed and taken to the cross.

This has been one of my favorite passages for years because it has all the elements - there is intrigue and suspense and tension; there are a number of personality dynamics at play between everyone; and there is a lot of fear and uncertainty. But in the middle of all of that we see Jesus pouring his heart out to his friends and encouraging them to not lose hope.

What a great reminder for us in our crazy world. It is all too easy to get our eyes focused on all of the storms of this world and to lose hope. But Jesus is still Jesus and he still offers us hope and peace regardless of our circumstances.

Each Sunday we will tackle just a portion of these chapters and we will get a glimpse of our Savior’s heart - in these final moments he is sharing what is most important to him and to all who follow him. We will learn some lessons and then be challenged to commit ourselves to living like Jesus lived. These lessons won’t always be easy and many times will be contrary to what we want but this is the calling for everyone who claims to follow Christ.

We would love to get connected with you -
